Dragonsclaw – Prophecy (Arkeyn Steel)

10 Feb

This is the new release of Arkeyn Steel Records. This isn’t a re-release but the first new release of the company. This is the first album of a new series of the company under the sub-name of Rising Force. The current release is the debut album of this Australian power metal band, Dragonsclaw, which was formed in 2007 in Sydney. The band plays power metal with high-pitched vocals and a contemporary sound. Most of the songs are up-tempo. The album is generally good and its bigger advantage are the vocals of Lavery. He has a high-pitched, really strong voice which makes the difference!! The strength of Lavery’s voice reminded me a bit of Tyrant (ex-Jag Panzer, Titan Force vocalist) while the sound approach of Dragonsclaw reminded to me a bit of Judas Priest’s “Painkiller”. On this album there are also some guest stars namely Blaze Bayley (ex- Iron Maiden vocalist) and Del Vecchio (Ian Paice, Glenn Hughes, James LaBrie). The song that Bayley sings in is “Prophecy Is a Lie” while Del Vecchio sings in “Defenders of the Skies”. I think that the best tracks of the album are “Darkness Within”, “Rising Power” and “Devil’s Fiery Dance”. In conclusion this is a good power metal album with contemporary sound and great high-pitched vocals. The fans of this genre should invest!!
