False Coda is a new band form Salamina (a small island near Athens). They were formed back in 2009. This is their debut album which has just been released by the oldest active greek metal record label (Steel Gallery). The style of the band is heavy/ power metal with progressive influences but I wouldn’t say they have a concrete band as an influence. The production of the album is good and the same goes for the technique level of the band while their songwriting is also quite good. The vocals of Xanthakis are really good and they raise the whole album. The duration of the album is 41 minutes, so that the album doesn’t tire the listener. Even though the things I said earlier about the vocals I would say that my favorite anthem is “Simple Rules” which is an instrumental tune.
In conclusion even though I am not the biggest fan of the “injection” of progressive elements into heavy/ power metal stuff I believe that False Coda is a good metal band at this metal sub-genre, so I think that all the fans of this style should hear “Closer To The Edge”.
