Warlord-Anthology (Arkeyn Steel)

20 May

I want to say from the beginning that Warlord is my favourite band (along with Heavy Load and Iron Maiden) so I wouldn’t say that this review is going to be “objective”… Warlord is a U.S. epic metal band.

Its basic members are Bill Tsamis (guitar, ex-Lordian Guard) and Mark Zonder (drums, Fates Warning). Warlord released their “Deliver US” EP in 1983 and “…And the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun” in 1984. Then they released two compilations which contained tracks from these two releases. In a 1986 fanzine I remember that I read that Warlord would release a third album which didn’t happen back then but in 2002. Their third album was called “Rising out of the Ashes” and the singer of the band was Joacim Cans from Hammefall. This album contained some songs from the LORDIAN GUARD stuff. In this compilation we have their three releases remastered by Kostas Scandalis (Wardrum, Horizon’s End) and we also have a couple of bonus tracks namely some different versions of their well known songs. Songs like “Child of the Damned”, “Deliver Us”, “Aliens”, “Penny for a Poor Man”, “Winter Tears”, “Mrs. Victoria”, “Soliloquy” and “Lost and Lonely Days” simply can’t be written again… So this compilation is your chance to have all the Warlord stuff gathered and re-mastered with a new artwork and a thick booklet. It will be released in 1000 hand numbered copies and the first 400 will be accompanied by a book which contains photographs and an analytical biography of the band written by Tsamis himself. As far as I know this edition has been sold out and from the simple edition there have been only 100 copies left so you should hurry up in order to obtain it!!
